Shenandoah Valley FFL Dealers

Finding an FFL dealer in the Shenandoah Valley isn’t hard! There are several FFL (federal firearm license) dealers in Winchester, Woodstock and Toms Brook that can help you purchase a new gun and that also have good reputation around the valley.

FFL fees will vary among the local dealers and can range from $10 (for active law enforcement, EMTs) to $30 depending on the dealer you choose.

Before buying a gun online or from another out of state dealer, be sure to contact your in-state FFL dealer to make sure they work with the specific out of state dealer you’re buying from. Some are selective and prefer to work only with specific out of state businesses, but others will accept transfers from any out of state dealer.

Next , ask what the OTD (out the door) price is for the FFL transaction. Some may quote a price and include the Virginia State Police check in that price, others may add it onto their quoted FFL dealer price.

Lastly, be sure to take all of the necessary ID with you when completing the FFL transaction at your local dealer. You will need a primary and secondary form of identification, and for what our prior state leaders (ignorantly) labelled as “assault rifles”, you will also need proof of citizenship. Your primary ID will need to be a state issue ID with photo, the secondary will need to have your mailing address on it, like a light bill, water bill, etc.. Note that the address will need to match your primary ID address.

  • For proof of citizenship, you’ll need one of these:
  • – a certified birth certificate or certificate of birth abroad issued by the US State Department
  • – an un-expired US Passport
  • – a U. S. citizen identification card
  • – a current voter registration card
  • – a current selective service registration card
  • – an immigrant or registration card issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service
  • – and a certificate of citizenship or a certificate of naturalization issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
